In conclusion, some of the major ways in which the rehabilitation of offenders in the Prison Service is being attempted have been examined here. The effects of attempts to rehabilitate offenders are clearly extremely variable and the Prison Service is in the midst of a range of changes, the outcomes of which cannot yet be assessed. It is hoped that with the identification of many of the problems through the research discussed here that improvements can be made to the rehabilitation of prisoners as it is certainly in the interests of society to do so.
